When Welsh Quakers settled in Pennsylvania around 1683, they were given a "Welsh Tract" and had hoped it would be a place where they could keep their language alive and that it would be Welsh only, but that wasn't to be, Penn welcomed everyone in. But there are still a lot of Welsh place names in Pennsylvania.
